The Civil War in Iskandar
Three centuries of silence end on the morning the western tax road falls, and a court built to intimidate discovers it is surrounded.
Iskandar has been ruled by the Veinwright kings for three hundred years, and for most of that time nobody has asked them to explain themselves. Then, before dawn on an ordinary morning, farmers and miners block the western tax road and seize the winter levy. It is a tax revolt. It would have stayed one, except that the court answers with something it has not needed in three centuries, and after that nobody in Iskandar is arguing about a road.
