A World Beyond the Palace
The palace was built to watch what comes in, and almost nothing about it faces the other way, so the Supreme Ruler's daughter walks out through the ash carts and finds a room where nobody has ever heard her name.
Zarina, daughter of the Supreme Ruler, is twenty years old, and she has never once been in a room where nobody knew who she was. Then she finds a way out of her father’s palace at night, and a room above a side street where the music is bad, the drink is cheap and nobody asks her name. They teach her to play cards and let her lose. Keeping that table turns out to cost more than she expects.
